PHOTOGRAPHY..
A general term used to encompass trends in photography from roughly 1910-1950 when photographers began to produce works with a sharp focus and an emphasis on formal qualities, exploiting, rather than obscuring, the camera as an essentially mechanical and technological tool. Photography is important because it allows people to see the world from different points of view and to admire the most different scenarios and situations captured in a frozen moment.
Formal analysis focuses on an artwork's "formal" qualities, or those visual elements that give it form. These include: shape, size, texture, line, space, etc. ... Photographers make decisions both about composition (arrangement of visual elements) as well as content (meaning) when taking photographs.
